My name is Mark Zebedee Ciarleglio, and Esoteric Tapioca is my music project.

It's name means nothing, and yes, I realize it is possibly the most pretentious name

that a one-man-band could ever have. I record the songs on an old (read: zip drive)

digital 8-track and a very basic microphone, which I hook up to my computer and

record the master using a great little open-source program called Audacity. The songs

themselves are made using an accoustic guitar, occasional keys and piano, percussion

with whatever is lying around, and drums when available. I currently reside in

Chicago, but was born in Waterbury, CT on January 22nd, 1977.

I've been recording and performing unter the moniker since the late 1990's, inspired

largely by the late 80's and early 90's waves of indie, folk and post-punk. I'm just doing what

I can to try to make the kinds of songs I really admire - poppy, often waywardly

romantic, and to-the-point short. As my influences continually grow, so too

do the ways I compose songs.

Thank you to everyone who has ever paid attention, really listened, bought a cd or t-shirt,

or come out to lend support. For me, playing shows can be a really nerve-shattering experience,

what with many songs being so personal, but having friends around certainly make it little easier.

And of course the beer and whiskey help.
